Schools Netball Competition Review
Stamford Park were crowned the champions of the Little Sports Coaching Netball tournament at Levenshulme High School.
The typically Mancunian spring weather forced the tournament to be moved inside but that didn’t dampen the spirits of all those involved. The event, which was attended by 10 schools across Greater Manchester, was deemed a success by students and teachers alike.
Izzie from Pownall Green said: “I play every Netball every week with Miss Jackson, it’s my favourite sport but I want to try some new things aswell.” Izzie went on to score several goals for Pownall so the practice is clearly paying off.
Mr Nielson, a teacher from St Richards told us that his pupils enjoy a variety of different sports at school and hopes they can be encouraged to expand their interests further.
Mr Smith, a PE teacher from St James added: “It’s been a great event and for some has seen them trying Netball for the first time. It’s important that they learn a variety of sports, LSC have recently introduced Handball to our students.” Despite bowing out of the tournament, the kids of St James managed to score 9 in 3 matches so clearly had lots of talent.
All the schools displayed exemplary behaviour during the tournament, teachers and parents should be proud of their conduct.
Further special mentions must go to the two finalists. Stamford Park, for the excellent range of skills shown throughout, and to Broad Oak whose passionate pupils carried on supporting their classmates even when losing in the final. Perhaps, fans from other sports could have learnt a thing or two from them.
Thanks to all schools who attended, we look forward to welcoming you to our Cricket Competition on the 24th May! Look out for invites via email and also delviered by your LSC Coach.
